The Black Business Student Association at York University (BBSA YorkU) is committed to ensuring that our website is accessible and usable for all students, faculty, staff, and visitors, including people with disabilities. We aim to provide an inclusive digital environment that reflects our values of equity, community, and opportunity

What Web Accessibility Is

Web accessibility ensures that individuals with disabilities can use and interact with a website with the same level of ease as any other visitor. This includes those using assistive technologies such as screen readers, magnifiers, speech recognition tools, and keyboard navigation

Accessibility adjustments on this site

We are committed to making the BBSA YorkU website compliant with the WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards.

  • Used the Accessibility Wizard to find and fix potential accessibility issues

  • Set the language of the site 

  • Set the content order of the site’s pages

  • Defined clear heading structures on all of the site’s pages

  • Added alternative text to images

  • Implemented color combinations that meet the required color contrast

  • Reduced the use of motion on the site

  • Ensured all videos, audio, and files on the site are accessible

Some third-party content embedded on our website (such as external links, documents, or media players) may not fully meet accessibility standards, as we do not have control over how external platforms implement accessibility.

The Black Business Student Association at York University (BBSA YorkU) does not operate a public physical office or service location. All BBSA activities, events, and meetings take place in York University facilities, which follow the University's accessibility policies and standards.

York University provides:

  • Wheelchair-accessible entrances and pathways

  • Elevators and accessible restrooms in campus buildings

  • Accessible seating in classrooms and event spaces

  • Support through the Accessibility Services Office

  • Clear signage, ramps, and designated accessibility features throughout campus

For all in-person BBSA events, we ensure:

  • Event spaces are accessible

  • Seating arrangements accommodate mobility devices

  • Alternative formats (digital copies, lecture slides, etc.) are available upon request

  • Microphones or amplification are provided when needed
